Manage Your Transition
Preparing for a stay
Having the personal items you want with you during your stay can bring a sense of comfort and familiarity. We’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions for those with loved ones coming to a Ventilator Care facility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Insurance and Costs
You likely have questions about how much a Ventilator Care stay will cost and what will be covered by insurance. We’ve put together a list of some of the most frequently asked questions and their answers. However, a representative from the facility of your choice is always available to help walk you through the costs and process. In addition, our Payor Sources chart gives a high level overview and more information can be found in our paper on Senior Health Care Options and Costs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Admissions
If you have chosen Marquis for Ventilator Care your family will be assigned an admissions liaison whose job is to ensure the transition goes smoothly. The liaison will have access to your loved one’s medical records and will work with case managers to oversee and manage the transition from place to place. We will provide transportation to the facility if available. Once your loved one arrives at the Marquis facility they will be warmly greeted by staff and taken to their room. Within the next 24 hours you can expect nursing, social service, dietary and therapy assessments as well as admission paperwork. It helps to be patient and prepared during this time, so bring insurance cards for admission paperwork.
Manage Medications
Many people have questions about how medications will be managed during their stay. You do not need to bring any medications or prescriptions with you. Your doctor will include all necessary prescriptions in your detailed medical orders. This process is managed by our in-house pharmacy and our highly skilled and licensed nurses oversee and dispense all medications, including liquid medications, tube feeding, injections and IVs.
Wills and Estates
Estate planning is an important arrangement for all aging people to have in place to avoid family disputes, legal fees and/or the government taking possession of assets. It’s also a chance for an aging person to make their wishes for their finances and health care known to their loved ones so everyone can be on the same page. Estate Planning documents can be drawn up by a trusted attorney, or you can use a do-it-yourself legal document source such as LawDepot.com.
